Buenos Aires, April 12 (NA) – A 46-year-old man was cold-bloodedly murdered by two motochorros (motorcycle thieves) while waiting for the bus to go to work in the Almirante Brown district. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Languenheim and Carlos Dihel streets, was triggered when the criminals attempted to steal the victim's backpack. According to security cameras, Mansilla tried to resist the robbery and ran towards one of the attackers to retrieve his personal belongings. At that moment, the accomplice waiting in the vehicle "shot him at point-blank range", causing his instant death on the sidewalk. After the attack, the criminals fled the scene, leaving the victim lying on the ground as neighbors tried to assist him unsuccessfully. The victim's wife stated that the man also had heart problems, which aggravated his condition after the gunshot wound. The key to solving the case was the mobile phone found in the stolen backpack—a device belonging to Edenor, the company where the victim worked. Through geolocation, police managed to track the device to the town of Guernica, which allowed the DDI of Lomas de Zamora to identify the suspects' address, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. During the operation, security forces arrested Roberto Héctor Pifano, 26, and Marcelo Alejandro Vaira, 30, who are accused of the murder. "The two criminals were detained after the police tracked their cell phone," confirmed sources familiar with the investigation, who also seized evidence of interest to the case. Both suspects were placed at the disposal of the Functional Instruction Unit No. 1 under the charge of "aggravated robbery-murder", while the local community demands greater security measures against the violence of motochorro attacks.
